The Brisbane Entertainment Centre has been operated since its inception by ASM Global (formerly AEG Ogden Brisbane Pty Ltd). Ownership was transferred to Stadiums Queensland (formerly Major Sports Facilities Authority) from 1 July 2002. Built by the Brisbane City Council as a world class multipurpose facility, the Centre formed part of Brisbane’s bid for the 1992 Olympic Games.

OPENING EVENT
British ice dancers Torvill and Dean performed on Thursday 20 February, 1986. Ticket prices were Adults $22.90 & Juniors $15.90.

FILM & TV
The Brisbane Entertainment Centre was the home to the original “Gladiators” television series.

SCULPTURES, STATUES & ARTIST RECOGNITION
Leroy Loggins, an Australian Basketball Hall of Fame inductee, was immortalised in a true to life (196cm tall) bronze statue. This was a tribute from the people of Brisbane to honour a basketball legend.

P!NK is the highest selling solo artist in the Centre’s history. In 2009 the P!NK Ladies Door 6 Female toilets were officially opened by P!NK to commemorate this outstanding achievement.

ACCOLADES
2010 Ranked No.1 in the world by Venues Today for venues with a capacity between 10,000 – 15,000 for the most recent six month period (16 Oct 2010 to 15 May 2011). Ranked No.1 by Billboard Magazine in its rankings for venues in the same capacity category for the corresponding period.

2012 Ranked No.1 Venue in the World in the 10,001-15,000 capacity category in Venues Today’s Top 10 Worldwide “Top Stops” beating O2 World Hamburg, Vector Arena Auckland and the Sydney Entertainment Centre.

2015 Nominee for “Best Energy Efficient Project” at the AEG Summit.
